烟台耀华国际教育学校是经山东省人民政府批准，由烟台经济技术开发区教育局与香港耀华国际教育机构合作创办的一所招收国内外学生的寄宿制国际教育学校。
耀华学校由中国国际教育的先行者曾楚珩女士1931年在香港创办，其意在“教育救国”，“光耀中华”，她的继承人陈保琼博士和叶国华教授秉承其宗旨，发扬光大，在香港、美国和中国内地成功开办大批耀中国际学校的基础上，依中国法律规定开办耀华国际教育学校，将优质的国际教育带给中、外籍学生。
烟台耀华国际教育学校2000年开办，本着融合中西教育优势，培养面向世界的新世纪公民的耀华教育使命，遵循“与科技结盟、与文艺结盟、与仁爱结盟”的校训教导，已度过了六个春秋，并形成了鲜明的教育特色。
烟台耀华国际教育学校是英国剑桥大学考试委员会（CIE）在中国山东省内首家授权的剑桥大学国际教育中心（CIEC），提供“一条龙”的国际课程，涵盖CIPP国际小学、 Checkpoint国际初中、IGCSE国际高中和A-Level大学预科课程体系，通过直接引进专业的外籍教师和国际教材，按照耀华国际教育的理念，在中国创设真正的国际教育的氛围和环境，将优质国际教育带给中、外籍学生，帮助他们通过A-Level这一被国际公认的“世界高考”，入读世界名牌大学，支持他们在未来世界中扮演更重要的角色。学校同时依照国家“基础教育纲要”要求，将本土小学、初中国家课程与国际课程有机整合，形成有鲜明耀华特色的课程体系。作为教育部南京师范大学课程研究中心实验基地，学校在国家新课程的改革和教学中一直走在时代前列。
烟台耀华国际教育学校极为重视双语教学，积累了丰富的英语和汉语作为第二语言教育的经验。学校中、外籍师资力量雄厚，拥有20余名来自美国、加拿大、澳大利亚等国家的专业外籍教师，他们和专业的中国教师一道探索着引领中国教育国际化的道路。
YWIES is a joint venture school, between the Technology Bureau of YTEDZ and Hong Kong Yew Wah Education Foundation, and accredited by the People’s Government of Shandong Province. YWIES is an International Education boarding school which receives both Chinese and foreign students.
Yew Wah was established in 1931 Madame Esang Chor-hang, the pioneer of Chinese International Education, with the aspiration to “save the nation through education”and to “glorify China”. Dr. Chan and Professor Yip are heirs of her ideas and established many Yew Chung Schools in Hong Kong, USA, and major Chinese cities. They also opened Yew Wah school according to Chinese law and were able to offer both local Chinese students as well as international students a higher quality level of international education.
YWIES was opened in 2000. Based on Yew Wah’s educational mission to “Fuse together the essence of Chinese and Western education to educate global citizens” and the school motto of “Aligning Science and Technology, Art and Culture, Love and Charity”. YWIES has formed a unique educational model which allows students to maximize their learning potential across all areas of the curriculum.
YWIES is the first Cambridge University International Examination Centre (CIEC) in Shandong authorized by Cambridge University International Examinations (CIE) to provide “through-train” international programs including: Cambridge International Primary Programs (CIPP), Cambridge’s International Lower Secondary (Check-Point), Cambridge General Certificate in Secondary Education (IGCSE) and Cambridge’s Advanced International Certificate of Education (A-Levels). By providing a fully international program with professional foreign teachers, international curriculum, and advanced educational philosophies. Yew Wah has created an authentic international atmosphere and learning environment in Mainland China. This path opens up vast opportunities to the rest of the world, including facilitating entry into many famous universities, which in turn will allow students to play a vital role in the world’s future. Subject to the requirements of the “Outline for Basic Education” issued by the Ministry of Education, Yew Wah has developed a unique program that fuses the elements from the Local Primary Curriculum, the National Secondary Curriculum and the International Curriculum. As a pilot school working in conjunction with the Curriculum Research Centre of the Nanjing Normal University, we pride ourselves in being a pioneer in teaching and curriculum reform.
YWIES is focusing on bi-lingual teaching and has a lot of experience in English and Chinese teaching as Secondary Language. YWIES has many professional Chinese and western teachers. More than 20 western teachers from USA, Canada, Australia, and other countries are implementing a new way, along with Chinese professional teachers, to lead Chinese Education to International Education.
