  Teaching Assistant for Sino-British College, USST (Shanghai, China)
  
  We are now inviting applications for our teaching assistant posts for academic year 2008/2009. These posts include:
  
  Assistant of English for Academic Purposes teachers for Pre-undergraduate and Pre-masters programme
  
  Assistant of Management and Research Methods teachers for Pre-masters programme
  
  Assistant of Subject teachers in Business Studies, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for Pre-undergraduate programme
  
  Assistant of Subject teachers in Business & Economics, Accounting & Finance, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering for undergraduate programmes.
  
  Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
  
  QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  
  a. Academic qualification at graduate or equivalent level or professional qualifications in a relevant subject area (Essential).
  
  b. Relevant teaching or teaching assistant experience in a UK university. (Essential). Normally, a minimum of one full academic year.
  
  c. An appreciation of UK higher education and the needs and requirements of international students (Essential).
  
  d. Experience of academic assessment and standards and of quality assurance procedures (Desirable).
  
  e. Experience of travelling or living in China (Desirable)
  
  SKILLS (Essential)
  
  a. Demonstrable cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
  
  b. A commitment to teamwork.
  
  c. Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills including native speaker fluency in written and spoken English. Numerate and articulate.
  
  d. Competence in the effective use of Information and Communications Technologies (ICT).
  
  e. Proven planning and organisational skills.
  
  f. A record of attention to detail, thoroughness and fairness.
  
  g. The ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, work under pressure and, when necessary, with minimal resources.
  
  STYLE (Essential)
  
  a. Outward looking and student sympathetic.
  
  b. Flexible with the ability to solve problems, to put in the time necessary to do the job.
  
  c. A willingness to learn, to improve personal teaching effectiveness where appropriate and an ability to adapt.
