• HD Ningbo School, a dynamic and expanding K-12 School set in a lovely campus on the eastern edges of this thriving city seeks, for August 2018, a School Counsellor (Educational Psychologist) to work with staff and parents to help develop the emotional and mental well being of our 1100 strong pupil body across the age range
• The successful candidate is likely to hold a recognised qualification in Educational Psychology and have suitable experience working within the child and adolescent age range
• S/he should be ready to engage in assisting pupils, staff and parents both in individual cases and through group intervention
• S/he should be comfortable presenting to parents to explain the rationale behind the School’s support programme
• S/he should be able and willing to develop the existing Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education programme to make it a beacon of excellence for schools in China
• It is likely, given the need for liaison with both Chinese and international staff, that the successful candidate with either be bilingual in Mandarin and English or a fluent Chinese speaker with excellent English
• S/he should be sympathetic to the needs of growing children, and whilst underpinning her/his expertise with an expert theoretical knowledge should have an approach that is practical and can be communicated in language that can be readily understood by the layperson
• HD Ningbo School caters for Chinese nationals and a small number of expatriate children, offering an innovative curriculum that enables pupils to sustain a command of and love for their own Mandarin language and culture whilst developing a fluent command of English and an international outlook, and it is vital that the appointee is in sy
